In our world-wide travels, we have developed a side-quest to find the best ever omelet. While not being the complete apotheosis of omelet, this fluffy, buttery, cheesy, stuffed egg creation is pretty high up on the list. The hash browns are a perfect complement with their balanced crispy and creaminess.

The breakfast sandwich was quite possibly the best I've ever had. The ham and super-melty cheese complimented the buttery fried egg marvelously, and the toasted sourdough was the ultimate casing for the decadent interior of the sandwich. Again, the hashbrowns were the perfect pairing for the main event and well worth the minor surcharge. Were we residents anywhere near this little family restaurant, we've no doubt we would quickly become regulars.

Very regular breakfast diner place, where you get the usuals, like eggs with meat, scrambled, omelets...

The mister spent a lot of his childhood in Jersey, which is apparently the diner state. It's been hard finding a greasy diner around these parts that even live up to his expectations. I found these place to be decent, but it's not even close in his kind. There are quite a few breakfast/brunch places that could pass diners in San Mateo though (I wonder why?), and there are better ones, definitely.

The nice thing about this place is the Filipino style breakfast, where you get the sweeter cured meat, and a side of garlic rice instead of hash browns. That's what I got since I looooove garlic rice, and the rice didn't disappoint! However, the meat and the eggs? I could probably fry up something like that at home pretty easily, and it didn't taste as nice as some other Filipino breakfast places around the peninsula. Both of them were definitely overdone.

All-in-all, it's a decent Bay Area style diner, where you can get some interesting options. But don't even attempt to compare them to anything in Jersey...

    Yelpers,

    Yesterday, around 10 am,  I ordered take-out.
I called in an order for eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast.
I was asked about the egg prep and I said sunny side and sour dough for toast. The attendant said the food would be ready when I arrived!

Picked up my order 15 minutes later.

When I came back to work and opened the box, I was surprised: four strips of thick bacon ! however, the hash browns were soggy and had more than a couple table spoons of burnt black portions. The eggs were over easy and shiny with cooking oil.

I am so let down! I've been here a few times for breakfast and it's always 3 star quality. Today, they really let me down. I hope the owners read this review.

I would give them another chance. BTW, my other review was deleted by someone; and that review was 3 stars.

Walked here from the place I was staying at. It was a nice looking diner. Food was great. I had the longanisa plate. Service was awesome. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely come back here again to try the chicken adobo.

Update March 2019: this place is under new management. JESSIE HOWEVER CONTINUES TO BE AMAZING AND DESERVES SO MUCH PRAISE. I love you girl. I always feel at home. I will definitely come here more because of you and the outstanding service I get. People like Jessie brighten your day and your experience. She is a customer service expert and deserves a raise.

    Update Oct. 2018:
This place continues to shine and stand out as a great comfort food and reasonably priced for amazing customer service establishment in this town. Everyone is so nice and welcoming, particularly my favorite waitress who always remembers my order. :) every time. I will frequent this place until the world

How have I not written a review about this wonderful place before?

They always remember my order, they've been wonderful to my family, and the price is right, and they do their best to make you happy even when it's very busy.

A San Mateo institution and staple of this area. Good old hospitality and great diner food.
